Sanji Vinsmoke One Piece played @ ![]() Maxine | HMD | IC Inbox • Appearance Sanji is a slim, yet muscular, long-legged young man with blond hair that he keeps brushed over one side of his face. His most distinctive trait is probably his curly eyebrows, and he's nearly always got a cigarette in his hand. He's most often found dressed in a black suit, but when he decides to branch out and pull something else out of the depths of his wardrobe, his fashion sense is...somewhat questionable, not a little flamboyant, and definitely unique! Though he thinks he looks cool as shit, of course. (Sometimes he actually does!) He started the series at 19, but after a canon time-skip Sanji is now 21-years-old. His birthday is on March 2nd. • Abilities Sanji's main and most obvious ability in terms of fighting is that he is an expert on kicking. His fighting style totally revolves around the use of his feet. It's usually said to be a type of martial arts, possibly a combination of Capoeira, Tae Kwon Do, Tan Tui, and Savate. While it doesn't have a specific name in the series, sometimes it is referred to as the "Red Leg" style, as that is the name Zeff (Sanji's mentor / father figure) was given when he was fighting with it, and Sanji has since turned it into his own "Black Leg" style. Sanji uses his legs and feet to defeat enemies, smash through walls and boulders, and kick the crap out of creatures that are way larger than him. He even has several combined moves with some of his crewmates that involve launching them at whatever they might be fighting. Because he is a chef, Sanji only uses his feet while fighting because he considers his hands to be his most precious tools and cannot risk injuring them. This does not, however, exclude the use of handstands in battle, and many of Sanji's moves involve him flipping into one whilst swinging and spinning his legs around at enemies. So while his lower body is, yes, amazingly and ridiculously powerful, his upper body strength is nothing to laugh at either. In fact, in the first chapter of the manga that Sanji shows up in, he is seen lifting a man entirely off his feet using only one hand. He's a complete powerhouse and is generally considered one of the top three fighters on his pirate crew. One of Sanji's special moves is called Diable Jambe. He basically has the power to heat his lower legs up so much that they turn bright red, which he used to only be able to do by spinning rapidly in place. However, since the time-skip, he's shown that he can now spontaneously ignite either one or both of his legs at the same time -- even if he's underwater. Supposedly the heat from a kick while his foot is ignited like this is so high that contact for one second would set a person aflame. Aside from fighting, Sanji is often the tactician of his crew, too. He's very perceptive and smart and can see things that others don't. He won't hesitate to silently go off on his own and make something happen that will eventually prove helpful to the crew's situation. His self-assigned Mr. Prince spy missions have gotten the crew out of several sticky and dangerous positions. Other abilities in Sanji's repertoire include his Blue Walk and Sky Walk techniques, which are when he travels at incredibly fast speeds either through the water or through the air respectively (he does a kind of continuous flying jump/run thing in the air, so it's not exactly flying). He's also able to use Haki, which is the ability to sense spiritual energy and overpower enemies. Sanji has shown that he can use Kenbunshoku (Observation) Haki, which allows the user to sense the presence of others, even if they are concealed from view or too far to see naturally, and Busoshoku (Armament) Haki, which allows the user to create a force similar to an invisible armor around themselves. Outside of battles and the like, Sanji's most important ability involves his skills in the kitchen. He's an amazing cook, and is the sole chef on his pirate ship, the Thousand Sunny. Before he joined Luffy's crew he was the Assistant Head Chef on the Baratie (the seafaring restaurant he and Zeff started). He loves cooking and will feed any hungry person or animal, regardless of whether they have money or are an enemy. He does this because he knows exactly what it is like to go without food, seeing as how he nearly starved to death when he was just a kid. Not only is Sanji an awesome chef, but he can make a feast out of the smallest and poorest choices of food, and it will no doubt taste delicious. All that, and he'll have it prepared in under a minute, too. • Residence: Periwinkle 101 (link includes houseboat floor plan) ♦ Two bedrooms. ♦ Three full bathrooms. ♦ LARGE kitchen with an equally large pantry. ♦ Fully stocked bar. ♦ Washer / dryer room. ♦ Combined dining / living room area. ♦ Extended rear deck, good location for workouts. ♦ Rear balcony with table and chairs. ♦ Hot tub on the upper level. • Additional Notes First thing to clarify, the mind reading -- Sanji can't read people's minds, but his ability to use Haki means he can sense where other characters are, to an extent. That's why I went with "sort of" because yes, those are two separate things, but I figure it's good to know that Sanji can generally at least FEEL that your character is around. So if you don't want him sensing your character's energy or presence, let me know! You can read his mind, though. Have fun with that. As for the romance stuff...lol okay look, here's the thing. Sanji thinks he is one suave motherfucker. He LOVES the ladies, and will go out of his way to bend over backwards for them, serve their every need, and basically woo the shit out of them. He's also a massive failtard at ever actually landing a date -- most of the time. He's proven in canon that he CAN win a woman's affection, but it's usually when he's like...not actively trying to. Or when they see past all his bullshit flailing. Because that's what he does initially when he sees a pretty girl: he flails and tornado spins and noodle arms and basically spews a slew of hearts in every direction. He's also been known to have nosebleed explosions all over the place if things get too sexy for him. It's very hot. Don't you want him, ladies?? 8| When it comes to guys, however, he would never outwardly indicate that romance is even an option. Outwardly. With regards to the "usually" when it comes to fighting, he'll straight up kick any dude's ass at any time for any reason, but he'll never fight a lady. It's his thing. Sorry in advance if that's frustrating for your character, but it's not something he does because he thinks they can't fight back or anything like that. He knows EXACTLY how strong women are and will cheer them on and support them 1000000% of the time. It's just his particular brand of manly chivalry -- he won't ever kick a girl. |
