Oi, anyone who's listening...which of these shitty farms around here's got the best fruit selection? We finally got the house straightened out again after that fucking tidal wave and it's a good time of year for this, so I'm gonna put the kitchen to use. Should buy some pie dishes, too...

*raises an eyebrow* Still me! You had all those customers, like you said. My village was TINY, and there wasn’t really anyone my age who would talk to me besides Kaya…and it wasn’t like that. *firmly, because Sanji seems to have a little trouble with the concept of girls as just friends sometimes* *shrugs, looking a little petulant because he has a feeling Sanji’s going to be all superior about this now*

Girls my age who were customers usually had parents shadowing them. Kind of a deal breaker. Angry fathers, you know... [winces a bit, then shrugs after a moment] Not that I didn’t manage to swing it sometimes. Occasionally. ...Rarely—but whatever. We used to restock at this one island, and there was a girl there I saw a couple times. And then, of course, there were the more mature women~ [who would never look twice at him :|] ...Did you want it to be like that?

Did I—? Uh. N-no. She was probably my best friend back then. *aaand that’s not exactly an answer for what Sanji asked him, but whatever* …anyway. So this date. Who’s it with? *yes, changing the subject is always a good tactic*

[eyes him for a moment, then shrugs and goes with the topic change easily enough, grinning brightly] Her name is Aerith! I just met her today!

What's she like?

Really pretty. And nice. She's going to show me her garden!

Oh yeah? What kind of garden? Vegetables or flowers?

Both, actually. But she said she'd let me take some of her vegetables. [pauses] But I don't want to take too many. Not on a first date.

*shakes his head and laughs* Yeah, of course. That’s one of the basic rules for a first date. Don’t take too many vegetables.

*he perks up a little as a thought strikes him* Are you planning to make something special? Besides the pies, I mean.

It'd be rude, that's all. Which is a terrible first impression to make on someone.

[thinks for a moment] Mm...I had a couple things in mind. Nothing special, per se, but bisques and stuff. Sweet potato and apple, butternut squash...

Mm, yeah, I guess so. Are you gonna cook her something?

*smiles as he listens to Sanji list off dishes. besides the fact that the food sounds mouth-watering, he likes the way Sanji gets when he starts talking about cooking, falling into an easy rhythm that's familiar and almost soothing. after all, there's a reason he likes to hang around in the kitchen besides the prospect of early samples, even though it often results in him being pressed into small kitchen chores like peeling and washing things*

Yeah, definitely. I'll have to repay her, after all~

[gets a look on his face like he's thinking about all the other ways he could repay her for her kind generosity.....la la la hello Sanji fantasy land doot-dee-dooooo]

*waits patiently for, oh, about three seconds, then reaches down to the floor and grabs the first thing his fingers find--a dirty sock. he balls it up and throws it across the room, aiming for Sanji's head*

[gets smacked in the face with the sock and just kind of blinks confusedly at first until he looks down to where it fell and sees what it was that hit him]

....Oi, what the hell, don’t go throwing your shitty dirty laundry at me! Gross.

[leans back and pokes at the sock like it’s diseased until it slides off his leg onto the floor]

*trying not-very-successfully to stifle his laughter at Sanji's reaction*

Sorry, I thought I was losing you. Extreme measures had to be taken.

Try something less extreme next time!

[kicks another dirty sock from the floor in Usopp's direction]

*flinches and gets hit in the shoulder, still laughing* What was that for? It's not like I was off in lala-land like some people!

You just did. [leans forward and peers at it, then promptly makes a big show of having to lean away again, his nose wrinkling up] Definitely yours, I can smell it from here.

*flat look* It just smells like a regular sock. *oh well, whatever. tosses it over his shoulder to the small pile of clothes on the floor*
